As one of the leading eCommerce platforms worldwide, Shopify knows that staying updated and relevant is a big part of its success. A few times a year, the company presents new features and updates that aim to empower merchants to offer an increasingly better shopping experience for their customers. These updates help sell more products by creating seamless shopping experiences.
Today, we go through some of Shopify’s most relevant new features, announced for Summer 2025. Let’s dive into the Shopify 2025 updates!
Let’s give a warm welcome to Shopify’s latest theme foundation, Horizon. Allowing merchants to easily edit preset designs or generate their own from scratch, Horizon empowers users to create stunning storefronts without the need to code. Horizon also has built-in AI that can generate unique content blocks based on the merchant’s ideas and needs. It can also craft custom designs from scratch if preferred.
Apart from top-notch design, Horizon ultimately allows merchants to launch their store in a quicker and budget-friendly way. This saves them the need to hire developers and designers from the start.
“Merchants can now translate a vision they have for their online store into something real much faster and without needing to code. As with everything we do here, we want to make the complicated easy so entrepreneurs can focus on what truly matters: growing their business and connecting with their customers,” stated Vanessa Lee, Shopify’s VP of product, on Shopify’s website. This guidance, combined with Shopify’s free resources, ensures that merchants have the support they need.
Shopify’s shopping app, “Shop”, has presented new updates that allow for smarter, more personalized shopping recommendations for buyers. Based on real-time shopping activity, this update helps sell as it enhances the shopper’s experience.
Among the updates, Shopify merchants’ online stores automatically sync with the Shop app to mirror their product detail pages’ content. On the other side, shoppers can now create and share collections based on personal themes. Creating a collection guides the buyer in exploring more items they might like.
Sidekick is Shopify’s AI assistant. It offers advice on the best ways to manage stock, sell more effectively, and engage buyers. It aims to assist merchants in managing their stores more effectively. Sidekick provides them with personalized recommendations, tips, and support. It can also automate certain tasks and provide performance analytics and insights.
As of recently, Sidekick speaks 20 more languages, has image generation and voice chat capabilities, and is now available on Shopify’s mobile app for faster, easier interactions.
Optimizing the checkout process is vital for any online store’s success, including offering seamless shipping and rapid checkout. Shopify’s latest refinements in checkout and payment processes significantly improve the user experience.
It’s crucial for merchants to harness these advancements, offering varied payment methods for both local and international customers, like digital wallets and buy now, pay later options. An optimized checkout flow not only increases conversion rates but also enhances overall sales performance and buyer satisfaction. Establishing partnerships with trustworthy payment service providers is essential; Shopify’s integrations streamline these processes for both new entrants and veteran retail businesses.
