Most NetSuite merchants reach a point where the ERP is doing its job but the systems around it are not talking to each other. Your Shopify orders are being entered manually into NetSuite. Your Klaviyo campaigns are not using real order data. Your Amazon seller account is completely disconnected from your inventory.
NetSuite integrations solve this. This guide covers the main categories of NetSuite integration, how they work, and what to consider before you start a project.
eCommerce platform integrations
These connect your online storefront to NetSuite so orders, inventory, and customer data stay in sync without manual intervention.
For merchants on SuiteCommerce Advanced, the storefront runs natively inside NetSuite — there is no integration required. For every other platform, you need a connector.
Marketing platform integrations
These connect your email and marketing tools to NetSuite so campaigns can be powered by real customer and order data.
Payment and financial integrations
Logistics and fulfillment integrations
CRM and sales integrations
There are three main technical approaches:
Native SuiteScript connector: Built directly inside NetSuite using Oracle’s SuiteScript 2.x platform. The integration logic runs inside your NetSuite instance. This approach tends to produce the most reliable real-time sync and eliminates a third-party dependency. Tavano Team builds native connectors for Shopify, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, and Amazon Buy with Prime.
iPaaS platform (Celigo, Boomi, MuleSoft): A middleware platform sits between NetSuite and the source system, mapping and transforming data. Celigo has strong pre-built NetSuite connectors and is widely used. These platforms add a license cost and a vendor relationship but provide a visual interface and broad pre-built template library.
Custom API integration: Built from scratch using each platform’s API. Maximum flexibility, maximum maintenance burden. Appropriate for large enterprises with genuinely unusual requirements.
Which system is the source of truth for each data type?
Inventory: is NetSuite the master, or is your storefront? Based on our experience, the ERP is 99% of the time the source of truth for Items, stock and pricing. Customer records: which system wins on a conflict? Getting this documented before configuration starts prevents messy data issues later.
What is the sync frequency you actually need?
Real-time sync is preferable for orders and inventory. Batch sync (hourly or daily) can work for some customer data and marketing attributes. Know what your business actually requires versus what sounds good in theory. Pushes from NetSuite to other sources can only happen every 15 minutes, tops. But that should only be considered for any stock replenishment or similar. Pricing updates should run scheduled during off-peak hours of your daily operations.
How will you handle errors?
Every integration produces errors: a malformed order, an unmapped field, a timeout. Before go-live, define how errors will be surfaced, who receives alerts, and what the process is to remediate a failed sync.
Who maintains the integration after launch?
NetSuite releases two major updates per year. Shopify, Klaviyo, and other platforms update continuously. Someone needs to own the ongoing maintenance of each integration and stay ahead of breaking changes.
Tavano Team builds and maintains integrations between NetSuite and the platforms NetSuite eCommerce merchants rely on most. Our connectors are built natively inside NetSuite, maintained by the team that built them, and supported on an ongoing basis.
