Amazon Buy with Prime: Features and Benefits for NetSuite Merchants

For NetSuite eCommerce merchants, checkout conversion is one of the highest-leverage variables in the business. A faster, more trusted checkout experience directly reduces cart abandonment and increases the percentage of visitors who complete a purchase. Amazon’s Buy with Prime addresses both of those levers by extending Prime shopping benefits, including saved payment and address information, fast fulfillment, and easy returns, to merchants’ own eCommerce websites outside of Amazon.com.

There are currently over 200 million Amazon Prime members in the United States. Seventy percent of global consumers have expressed a desire for a shopping experience with the same benefits and services as Amazon Prime. When those buyers encounter the Prime badge and checkout on a third-party merchant site, they are engaging with a checkout experience they already trust and have already enrolled in.

Why Buy with Prime: The Business Case

Amazon has published conversion data showing that merchants adding Buy with Prime see an average 25% increase in shopper conversion rates. The data is based on A/B testing across a sample of merchants with monthly web traffic between 5,000 and 3 million visitors, measuring conversion when Buy with Prime was available versus when it was not in the same time period. Individual merchant results vary: some report conversion uplifts exceeding 30%.

Adding Reviews from Amazon alongside Buy with Prime amplifies this further. Merchants who add Reviews from Amazon to their product pages have seen more than a 38% average increase in shopper conversions and a 34% average increase in revenue per visitor. For merchants who lack substantial on-site reviews, leveraging the review volume they have accumulated on Amazon.com is a meaningful trust signal.

The cost of Buy with Prime is 3% of the order value with a minimum of $1.00 per order, which covers fulfillment through Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF), payment processing through Amazon Pay, and access to the full Buy with Prime feature set described below.

Key Features

1. Seamless Checkout with Amazon Pay

Buy with Prime shoppers check out using their Amazon Pay wallet, which has their shipping address and payment method already saved. This eliminates the highest-friction step in any checkout: filling in address and payment fields for the first time on an unfamiliar site.

Cart abandonment in eCommerce averages approximately 70 to 75 percent globally. The two most cited causes are unexpected costs (shipping, taxes) and friction in the checkout process itself. Buy with Prime addresses both: it provides transparent delivery estimates before checkout and eliminates form-filling friction through saved Amazon account data.

2. Prime Delivery Speed and Reliability

Orders placed through Buy with Prime are fulfilled through Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF). MCF offers shipping as fast as next-day or 2-day delivery. Amazon reports a click-to-door speed of 1.9 days on average through MCF, which is more than 50% faster than other fulfillment providers in their benchmark data.

MCF also maintains a 97% on-time delivery rate and 99.98% undamaged package delivery rate. For merchants where customer satisfaction and repeat purchase rates are critical business metrics, these fulfillment reliability numbers directly support long-term customer lifetime value.

Customers receive real-time delivery notifications through Amazon’s tracking system, reducing “where is my order” support inquiries.

3. Easy Returns Following Amazon’s Returns Policy

Returns are handled according to Amazon’s Prime returns policy, which customers already know and trust. Eligible returns can be initiated automatically without contacting the merchant’s customer service team.

For merchants where returns processing is a significant operational burden, the managed returns experience through MCF reduces internal handling overhead. The tradeoff is that return decisions follow Amazon’s policy framework rather than the merchant’s custom policy. Merchants should review Amazon’s returns policy before implementation to confirm it aligns with their operational model.

4. Simplified Order Management and Tracking

Customers can track Buy with Prime orders through the Amazon Pay tab in their Amazon account, using the same interface they use for Amazon.com purchases. Merchants have full visibility into Buy with Prime transactions in their merchant dashboard.

For NetSuite merchants using Tavano Team’s Buy with Prime NetSuite Connector, Buy with Prime orders flow directly into NetSuite as sales orders, with fulfillment status updates flowing back from MCF in real time. This eliminates manual order entry, keeps NetSuite’s inventory records accurate as MCF processes fulfillments, and centralizes all order data in the ERP regardless of the checkout method used.

5. 24/7 Customer Support Through Buy with Prime Assist

Buy with Prime Assist provides 24/7 live chat support to customers for any issues related to Buy with Prime orders. This covers post-purchase inquiries including delivery questions, return initiation, and refund status without requiring merchant intervention.

For DTC merchants operating without a large customer service team, having a 24/7 support layer for a subset of orders is a meaningful operational benefit. Buy with Prime Assist does not replace the merchant’s customer service for issues outside the scope of Buy with Prime, but it covers the most common post-purchase inquiry types.

Implementing Buy with Prime on a NetSuite Storefront

Buy with Prime is available to all eligible US-based merchants. Implementation on a SuiteCommerce or SuiteCommerce Advanced storefront requires placing the Buy with Prime button on eligible product pages and connecting the fulfillment workflow to your MCF inventory.

Tavano Team developed the Buy with Prime Connector for NetSuite in collaboration with Amazon. The connector manages bi-directional data flow between NetSuite and Buy with Prime, handles order creation and fulfillment routing, and covers cancellations, returns, and refunds within the NetSuite workflow. It is available as a certified SuiteApp.
