NetSuite Will End Support of Non-Secure Website Domains: What to do?

Recently, NetSuite has announced two main updates that could impact your SuiteCommerce website if they are not addressed. Today, with the help of our NetSuite Support team, we’ll go through what SuiteCommerce users need to know and which are the steps to ensure your site stays safe and sound.

What’s Changing?

Starting April 2, 2025, NetSuite will stop supporting non-secure (HTTP) domains. This means any traffic to these domains will be blocked.

In case you need a little context, HTTP refers to HyperText Transfer Protocol. It is the standard protocol for transmitting data between a browser and a website. However, the difference with HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) is that HTTP is not encrypted. This means that all data can be intercepted by hackers, making it not entirely secure for users. Additionally, having a HTTPS domain will not only benefit you for its safety. It will also help you get better SEO rankings.

How to Check and Fix it

To check if your domain is secure, go to NetSuite > Commerce > Hosting > Domains. In the Set Up Domains list, the Protocol field will show either http:// for non-secure domains, as opposed to https:// for secure domains.

In case you have non-secure domains, you’ll need to take one of the following actions:

  • Use NetSuite’s Secure Domain Slots: NetSuite provides a set number of secure domains per your contract. If you need more, you’ll have to ask for additional slots.
  • Obtain an SSL Certificate: If you exceed your allotted secure domains, you can get an SSL certificate from an external provider and manually associate it with your domain.

Additionally, according to NetSuite, there will be more upcoming changes regarding NetSuite domains, such as the discontinuation of domain types “shop.netsuite.com” and “secure.netsuite.com” (default secure checkout domain).
